Concordia CPA Admission Requirements

Requirements for candidature

  • Bachelor Degree with a minimum GPA 3.0/4.3
  • Completion of all courses listed in the table below, before beginning the CPA program
  • Completion of the ACCO courses listed below with a minimum overall ACCO GPA of 2.80/4.30.

*Note, these courses may be repeated to obtain the required ACCO GPA. Students with the fewest number of repeats will have the strongest chance for admission*

Prerequisites ACCO classes with an overall GPA of 2.80 required

  • ACCO 310: Financial Reporting I
  • ACCO 320: Financial Reporting II
  • ACCO 420: Financial Reporting III
  • ACCO 330: Cost and Management Accounting
  • ACCO 435: Integrative Management Accounting Cases
  • ACCO 360: Assurance Services (Beginning FALL 2017. Students who have completed ACCO 450 are not required to complete ACCO 360)
  • ACCO 465: Advanced Assurance Services
  • ACCO 340: Income Taxation in Canada
  • ACCO 440: Advanced Taxation

*  Please note that ACCO 425 is required, if ACCO 420 was completed prior to Fall 2017.

  • COMM 215: Business Statistics
  • COMM 217: Financial Accounting
  • COMM 305: Managerial Accounting
  • COMM 226: Management Information Systems
  • COMM 308: Introduction to Finance
  • COMM 315: Business Law and Ethics
  • COMM 401: Strategy and Competition
  • ECON 201: Introduction to Microeconomics
  • ECON 203: Introduction to Macroeconomics


  1. Courses must be completed in a Canadian University
  2. Students who have not completed the required courses can complete them in the Bachelor in Commerce degree or as part of the Certificate in Accountancy Program
  3. Prerequisites without minimum requirements are needed to open a file with the CPA Order
  4. Courses in the list will be assessed for exemption upon application to the CPA program
  5. ACCO 400 is not a required course for admissions to the CPA program, however, it is required to complete the Bachelor in Commerce: Majoring in Accountancy degree

It should also be noted that upon passing the Common Final Exam (CFE), students will be exempt from taking the GMAT for MBA admission. In addition, up to 21 credits may be transferred from the CPA program (Courses must have a grade of B or better) towards the MBA program. This means that to receive an MBA from Concordia you will only require 24 additional credits versus doing the full program, which requires 45 credits!
